CAB - Who are we?

Hira Siddiqui from Citizens Advice Bureau Pakuranga/Eastern Manukau

🧐 If you're wondering what we are all about, let's get into it.

👉 We are a free service - providing free, confidential, independent information and advice. Our skilled, trained volunteers all over the motu are ready to have a kōrero and will take the time to listen.

👉 We help people know and understand their rights and identify a pathway to addressing issues or problems they may face.

👉 Everyone is welcome at CAB. We are a universal service, which means we are here for everyone and anyone who needs our help, on any question or issue.

👉 We act as a voice for positive social change. When we see that policies or laws in Aotearoa are not working well for people, through the insights we gain from people we help, we call for change.

👉 We help connect people to the services, clubs, activities and support organisations they need. CAB has an awesome online community directory of over 35,000 local services and organisations.

🤙 You can contact us on freephone 0800 367 222, online at
cab.org.nz (send a message or kōrero with a volunteer on live chat), or visit one of our 80 CAB locations around the motu cab.org.nz/find-a-cab/

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
