I Make Headstones in New Zealand
It all started many years ago—with my Samoan aunt.
She wanted to create a custom headstone for her mother, who was buried in Apia, the capital of Samoa. She knew my family owned a stone quarry and processing factory in China, and that I had studied architectural design, so she asked for my help.

I designed her mother’s first headstone—not just the shape and inscription layout, but also helped manage the international logistics.
It was also my first time attending a headstone unveiling ceremony in Samoa.
That day left a deep impression on me.
It took place in a seaside villa, with headstones on either side of the front yard. Family members had traveled from all over the world to attend—not to say goodbye, but to celebrate a life. They shared stories and memories. There were tears, but also laughter.
The atmosphere was peaceful, warm, and harmonious—completely different from the traditional Chinese way I grew up with, where death is seen as taboo, and everything is filled with heaviness and sorrow.
In that moment, something quietly shifted inside me.
After that, I went on to help more Samoan families design and create headstones—over a dozen in total. I often visited cemeteries with them too.
But cemeteries there are not like the ones in China.
They’re like gardens—lush, open, beautiful. People bring flowers, food, and stories. They sit beside the graves of their loved ones, even in the evening, talking to them softly.
That’s when I realized: a headstone is not just a piece of stone.
It’s an extension of love. It’s memory made tangible.
Eventually, someone said to me:
“You should start your own headstone business—help more people do this right.”
So I did.
That year, I began taking this seriously in New Zealand.
After years of structured training and certification, we were officially licensed by the government—becoming one of the few approved memorial stone workshops in the country. To date, we’ve helped thousands of families.
Helping them do one final, meaningful thing for their loved ones.
Not for cold business,
But to make remembrance visible through design and stone—
To let memory rest gently in the wind, and let love linger, without fading.

Hi Neighborhood,

(update - one thing I want to warn the neighbours around my property on my street and those people who're conspiring with them. don't enter my property area without my permission. I grow a lot of vegetables in my garden, this is the result of my own effort, so they're not for anyone else except for myself and my future flatmates to consume. No need to worry about the vegetables too much for myself alone to consume, as I do have a very good way to consume them very quickly as I have informed the public before. Some of these mentioned people made up stories that some of them entered my garden before, but I didn't disclose them or my outside security cameras didn't capture them. It isn't true, don't trust them, ignore them. They didn't enter my garden as they said and I won't share my vegetables with any of them. Please have a check with the emails I sent to the public before for this matter. Sorry for clarifying this and thanks for your understanding)

The weather looks good this weekend, and I'm going to use the electric saw to cut short, tidy up the heaps of timber I sourced from trademe recently. I will DIY use these timber to build some construction projects later on in my garden, e.g. a deck and other constructions. Cutting the timber will generate some noise, I think the neighbourhood within a few hundred meters range should be able to clearly listen to the sound. The sound should be used for all of us in the residential area when the property owners implement this kind of project for their own garden. If you hear of this very familiar sound again this weekend, it is generated from my place, if not from somewhere else.

Just FYI and sorry for the noise.

NZTA have shared a wind warning for Auckland Harbour Bridge for today.

What you need to know:
- Between 4pm today and 8pm today, there is the potential for wind gusts on the Auckland Harbour Bridge to reach 90 – 100 km/h. While these are expected to be brief, they could trigger a red alert.
- Under a red alert, NZTA may close all lanes on the bridge as it is unsafe for any vehicle to be on the bridge and the bridge structure is vulnerable to vehicle impacts.
- From 8pm to midnight tonight an amber alert will remain in place with forecast wind gusts of 75-85 km/h. Under an amber alert, speed limits may be reduced and some lanes on the bridge may close.
- Drivers of high sided vehicles and motorcyclists are advised to avoid the Auckland Harbour Bridge and use the western ring route on State Highways 16 and 18.

NZTA say 'We don’t take the decision to lower speeds, close lanes or close the bridge lightly. Our priority is the safety of road users and the bridge structure.'

For up-to-date information about any restrictions on the bridge, please look out for the electronic message boards which indicate lane closures and reduced speeds and you can find more info here:
