Torbay Tennis Club - Opening Day Sunday October 11th (Moved from Sept 20).

Alexander from Browns Bay

Torbay Tennis club is having its annual open day on Sunday, October 11th. We want you all to come and bring friends if you can. It is a fun day for social tennis with old friends and new people. Let's show them the good old Torbay spirit and welcome the new members.

Kids from 10 am to 12pm with resident coach Jason Hart. Jason will do fun games for kids of all levels.
Adults from 12 - 3 pm. Social tennis - mixed doubles.
Sausage sizzle. Lots of family fun.
Spread the word.

Also for those who don't know Roger Knight retired as club president this year after many many years of great service to the club. Christian Nicholson has taken over as the new club president. But thank you Roger for doing such a good job and showing me the ropes.
Also, Julie Lichtwark retired as club secretary. Julie did a fantastic job for so many years and now we are left with an important position to fill. Alex and Kevin from the club committee are sharing the role in the interim but we are looking for someone keen to take on that role permanently. If you are interested let me know and I will send you a job description.
Our new club Captain is Simon Sherpa. Thank you Simon for taking on that role. The club needs people like you. Simon will be organizing interclub teams this year. Yes, there is still time to get your name down so do that soon.
We need ladies especially. Let us know. Let's get ready for summer!
Any questions call Alex on 0272256488

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Night-time chipsealing works on SH2

NZ Transport Agency (NZTA)

From 9 to 17 February, stop/go traffic management will be in place on SH2 between McPherson Road and Dimmock Road on multiple nights between 9pm and 5am (Sundays to Thursdays).

During the day, all lanes will be open, but speed restrictions will apply to allow the chipseal to set and to protect vehicles travelling over the newly laid surface.

There may be delays to your journey when travelling through the area. This is weather dependent so check NZTA Journey Planner before you travel.
