🦇 Bat detection evening - Shepherd's Park
Drop-in at any time between 8:30-9:30pm.
Find us at Shepherd's Park on the field by the Melba Street entrance.
Rain dates TBC in early March.
We are launching a series of bat-detection evenings with a drop-in session at Shepherd's Park. Come along to see if you can be the one to discover critically endangered pekapeka-tou-roa / long-tailed bats in Kaipatiki!
We will show you how to use bat-detectors and what to look (and listen) for when you are hunting bats. Our friendly team will be on hand to chat to you about why we are searching for bats, why they are important and what you can do at home to give them a helping hand. We might even be able to help you identify some of those strange night-time noises you hear in the bush!
Bring a torch, preferably one with a red-light setting, warm clothes and wear covered shoes like sneakers.
We care about the health of our staff and community so we require that attendees show a valid vaccine pass on arrival, adhere to social distancing measures and wear a mask when they attend our bat-detection sessions.
Please stay home if you are feeling unwell.
