Mentors Wanted

Debbie Leaver from YWCA Auckland

Mentors play a huge role in the lives of these young women and gain just as much out of the programme as the girls they mentor. It is an opportunity to learn about other cultures and network with like-minded women. While mentors take the opportunity to hold the door open for younger women to reach their full potential, they come away with unique experiences that enrich their own lives.

Here is a video about the programme - vimeo.com...

2018 mentee intakes will come from Henderson High School, Mount Roskill Grammar School and Onehunga High School. Please let us know what your preference of school would be.

Poll: Does the building consent process need to change?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

We definitely need homes that are fit to live in but there are often frustrations when it comes to getting consent to modify your own home.
Do you think changes need made to the current process for building consent? Share your thoughts below.

How does 9 days without your phone sound?

Eve from Eve Rudkin Mindfulness

Hi Neighbours, I was lucky enough to spend 9 days recently training in mindfulness - no phone, no news, almost no talk - just paying attention to my experience, at a peaceful off-grid centre in the Coromandel.

It was pretty amazing, but I don't suggest you try that length at first, what about starting with an hour?

Come and soothe body and mind with a small group for a gentle mindfulness session of ease and peace. The session includes gentle movement and relaxing simple meditation.

Next one is on Tue 7th of May 1 - 2.15pm, Meadowbank Community Centre. Come and see what it is like! Contact me - the first session free, then Koha welcome. 021 255 1485
