Kia ora neighbours, the fate of a historic building is unknown as Auckland Council say it’s no longer in a financial position to fund it.

The Whare on the former Monte Cecilia Catholic School site in Hillsborough, next to the Pah Homestead, was spared from demolition in 2016 under the presumption it could be used as a community facility.

But six years on, Puketāpapa Local Board chairwoman Julie Fairey said it was now “stuck in limbo” as both the council and the Wallace Arts Trust, which owns Pah Homestead, can no longer fund its restoration.

Auckland Council and the Auckland RSA have come together to provide plenty of opportunities for Aucklanders to honour the military veterans who displayed courage serving our country.

Although the number of in-person services and ceremonies across the region is reduced as a result of the red-light setting during planning, there are still many ways to commemorate at home or in the community.

The dawn service at the Auckland War Memorial Museum is limited to veterans and invited guests only. The public are encouraged to view the service at home on Māori Television.

Visit ourauckland.nz/anzacday for ways to commemorate Anzac Day.
