Founder of popular NZ shoe brand Andrea Biani dies
Hi neighbours, The man who started one of New Zealand's most successful shoe brands - Andrea Biani - has died aged 83. You may remember seeing Sebastiano Perillo's designs at Auckland shops - his first pair sold at a Queen St retailer. Perillo, also known as John, came to NZ from Italy as a refugee in 1951. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
