** Meeting: 7:30pm this Thursday, Oct 3rd, at Rossgrove Chapel Hall

Housing New Zealand plan to build a 3 storey apartment building covering the length of Martin Ave from Margaret Ave to Leone Tce, right beside the footpath.
3 storeys (exceeding the height for the unitary plan) with 50 Units (and 42 carparks): 12 x 1 bedroom, 15 x 2 bedroom, 18 x 3 bedroom, 5 x 4 bedroom.

Plans are very well advanced, but there has been NO consultation with the community.

The organisers of this meeting are not opposed to social housing. Mt Albert has a proud history of social housing in our community. Many homeowners here grew up in social housing and many valued members of our community are currently HNZ tenants. We also accept that some degree of intensification is desirable for these sites, but the scale and design of the proposed development brings with it many issues and raises concerns which we would like to see addressed.

Most notably:
School zones and capacity
Traffic safety
Infrastructure
Sustainability

Contact martin.ave.community@gmail.com if you want to find out more and help us achieve a better community outcome.

Use this link to see the plans lodged with Auckland Council: tinyurl.com...

Please sign our petition asking Housing New Zealand to consult with the community:

This couch is very cool. It is the ultimate comfortable couch and you never have to worry about the kids or animals damaging it. It has all sorts of wear (but definitely no rips etc) although it adds to the charm. It could do with a handmans touch underneath but it does not affect the comfort and you definitely cant see it!
The couch DOESN'T come with any accessories but I have included the sheep skins and cushions in the photos so you can see how cool it looks dressed. I have put wheels on it to make it easier to move to vacuum under it (and so it looks great) as it is so heavy I couldn't pull it out. You will need two people to move it., pick up is Morningside Drive, Sandringham 230 long x 120 deep

Price: $120

Ahoy ye families!

Grab a torch and join our adventurers and suffer a sailor’s life on-board, as we navigate the southern oceans with Cook and company.

It’s going to be all hands on deck as you learn how to behave in His Majesty’s Royal Navy – avoid the dreaded cat o’ nine tails and sample some delightful 18th century naval food. Mmmm, pease porridge, anyone?

Discover stories and traditions of tangata whenua as encountered by that first bewildered bunch of seafarers. And how do you communicate if you don’t speak the same language? Try to dodge muddles and mix-ups once we reach the Pacific.

● TUE 1, WED 2, THU 3, SUN 6, FRI 11 & SUN 13 OCT, 6PM - 8.30PM
● $25 EARLYBIRD (UNTIL 8 SEP), $30 GENERAL ADMISSION

If you already got 2 years NZ full licence and keen to help learners from refugee background in our OPEN ROAD Refugee Driver Training Programme, join our team of volunteer mentors and support persons for test day!
