What is the point in having a public park when it seems to be closed at the time of year people would want to use it more? Maybe a council member can comment.

SPCA NZ says it is saddened and disappointed to hear Anthony Van Dyck had to be euthanised yesterday after suffering a fractured fetlock during the running of the cup at Flemington.
The horse received immediate veterinary care but was unable to be saved due to the nature of its injury.
The animal was loaded into an ambulance at the track but was put down soon after.
The SPCA said this tragic accident highlights the risks faced by horses participating in these races.
Anthony Van Dyck reportedly became the seventh horse to die on or as a result of Melbourne Cup day since 2013.
