Auckland-based company Computer Recycling is hosting more than 30 e-waste drop-off days.
During the first two events this year, members of the community delivered nearly 22,000 kg of e-waste.
More than 300 people flocked to the First Presbyterian Church in Papakura to drop off 8462 kg of e-waste.
This included more than 70 printers, 56 old home appliances, 63 televisions and other electronic goods.
Meanwhile Greenbay High School saw 450 people and drew 13,512 kg of e-waste to be diverted from landfills.
During the events, Computer Recycling will be raising funds for the children's Variety charity and will be matching the donations.
The next two events will be held on February 27 at Mt Albert Baptist Church and on March 6 at Massey University East Precinct Albany Expressway, in Albany.
Do you plan to take advantage of these e-waste days?
Or do you prefer to take your rubbish to the dump?

Animal refuge New Beginnings Rescue and Rehoming has until Friday to find “forever” homes in Auckland for the free-range birds which are due to be culled.
At 18-months old, the brown shavers were moulting and having a breather from egg laying, said Dani Prance, who runs New Beginnings Rescue and Rehoming in Taranaki and Auckland’s Rodney District.
“They can still lay eggs but they've reached their use by date for farmers.”
Prance has found homes for about 900 hens from the farm and is desperate to see the rest relocated so “they can live until they’re ancient and die of natural causes.”
“Normally we’d easily find a lot of homes in Auckland but it’s dwindling down,” she said.
Free-range hens face over crammed conditions with limited food and no grass, Prance said.
“You find girls that are definitely at the bottom of the pecking order. They're super skinny and you can see all their bones.”
But they flourished when they got to their new homes, learning quickly how to scratch and forage for food, she said.
“The best feeling is when you pull a hen out of one of those farms and get to put them down on grass and you just watch the amazement in them.”
They made great pets, she said, as they became friendly and ended up following their owners around.
“They’ve just got amazing personalities.”
The adopted hens have been re-homed in a variety of settings ranging from suburban town houses to 20-acre blocks.
“Some people want to fill up community food stalls with eggs, or you get home bakers that do a lot of baking for the community or Meals on Wheels and just want to be a bit more self-sustainable,” Prance said.
Chickens live eight years on average, but hens only productively lay eggs in the first two years of their lives.
Anyone interested in adopting the hens- from collection points in Dairy Flat, Wharehine and Bombay- can email newbeginningsrescue.rehoming@gmail.com or message the rescue’s Facebook page.

Beautiful books for children including an excellent drawing book and one about bugs. The maze book has only been used a couple of times so 90% of the mazes still to be used.
Also a fun bingo game using words. my kids loved it (just don't mention it's educational). 😉

Hi Neighbours, If mask-wearing is mandatory on all public transport, why are more people not getting pulled up for failing to do so. And does it make sense to allowed masks to drop for a beer, wine or coffee? Read the story below:

The first week of February is traditionally the biggest week of the year when it comes to Aucklanders' water use, said Watercare head of servicing and consents, Mark Bourne.
“Last year was a little different because we were in the midst of a drought, and water use skyrocketed throughout the month of February because there was just no rain," Bourne said.
"We were breaking record after record, with water use peaking at 568 million litres a day."
Normally the first week in February is when Watercare would see water use spike dramatically, he said.
"It's when most people are back from their summer holidays, commercial production increases, the school term is starting and the weather is often very hot and dry."
Bourne said it was imperative that Aucklanders kept up the great water-saving habits they had adopted since restrictions were put in place in May.
"Together we’ve saved more than 10 billion litres in the past eight months, and in January our water use stayed comfortably under our target."
If you are doing your bit for conservation, what are some water saving hacks that you use?
