Mortgage Rates are Falling
Mortgage rates are falling as markets believe monetary policy tightening will end sooner than originally expected. In other words, interest rate rises got ahead of themselves.
The graph below shows the 3yr swap rate which indicates bank funding costs have fallen 1% since the 16 June peak, (from 4.6% to 3.6%). If you are wondering what is the gap between swap rates and mortgage rates, it's called margin.

Auckland Harbour Bridge summer works
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is carrying out essential maintenance on the Auckland Harbour Bridge this December and January. The southbound clip-on lanes will be closed (24/7) from 26 December to 5 January for road resurfacing. Night-time lane restrictions will be in place throughout the summer for recoating work on the bridge. Traffic will still be able to travel in both directions at all times.
