🚙🚙Apparently the speed limits are too high on our roads🚙🚙

Fiona from Henderson

Are they begin serious here?
They are suggesting a speed of 60-80 km/h should apply in areas where 100km/h applies as well as 30-40 km/h for most urban areas - WHAT A JOKE!!!
Instead of reducing the speeds to a speed where a walking horse could overtake us, how about they invest all of those various taxes that they have been taking from us and repair all of the dangerous roads - NATIONWIDE!!
We have our fuel taxed into the 'beyond stupidity' category and now they want to reduce (ridiculously) the speed limit.
Peak hour traffic will be constant 24/7.
As it was quoted by Mr Leggett, "that would severely restrict the movement of freight and the productivity of New Zealand's economy, as well as having a major impact on the everyday lives of drivers"
They could also consider retraining recidivist drivers.
There also has to be more intensive training for tourists that hire rental cars.
Also, here's an idea, they could invest more money into the Police and reintroduce the dedicated department for traffic only.
Then they could focus on getting most of the bad/unlicensed drivers off the roads, dangerous cars off the road and then the Police will have more time to focus on the criminals in the nationwide communities.
Our Police are stressed to the max with their heavy workloads as it is, and seem to have been since the traffic department was removed.
Maybe this could a possible start to an easy solution to get the number of deaths on the road down, not the knee jerk reaction of reducing the speed.

Robots are stepping into repetitive roles in factories, plants and warehouses. AI is taking care of the admin tasks that once filled many mid-level office jobs.

We want to know: As the world evolves, what skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
