My wife Cherie and I have lived in Henderson Massey for 23 years, raising our four Kiwi-Indian kids. Talking to locals and business owners, I know that safety is a key concern.

I will ensure more funding is allocated to local safety initiatives.

I am campaigning to protect our green spaces, including planting more trees, cleaning up shared spaces and stopping the sell-off of our parks.

We urgently need to prepare for more people in our area which means upgrading Waitakere Hospital and building new community facilities like a swimming pool complex in Massey. My career is in management and finance and my passion is serving the community.

I have been involved with local organisations for many years including Sport Waitakere, the Community Organisation Grants Scheme, the Waitakere Indian Association and as a community board member.

I want Henderson Massey to thrive.

Vote Sunil Kaushal – vocal for local.

Did you know that alcohol reduces rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
According to findings, the more you drink before bed, the more pronounced these effects. REM sleep happens about 90 minutes after we fall asleep. It's the stage of sleep when people dream, and it's thought to be restorative. Disruptions in REM sleep may cause daytime drowsiness, poor concentration, and rob you of needed ZZZs.
Alcohol may seem to be helping you to sleep, as it helps induce sleep, but overall it is more disruptive to sleep, particularly in the second half of the night if taken repeatedly.

Alcohol also suppresses breathing and can cause sleep apnea," or breathing pauses that occur throughout the night.

Studies prove that using alcohol as a sleeping aid can result in insomnia in the long run. However a drink or two here and there taken in a moderate quantity is of no harm.

Kia ora neighbours, New Zealand’s largest wildlife hospital and rehabilitation centre is appealing for public support as they prepare for
an influx of baby birds.

BirdCare Aotearoa is a registered charity dedicated to caring for sick, injured and orphaned wild birds.

Over 6,000 birds are delivered to their centre in Green Bay, Auckland every year.

The centre’s admissions have been steadily increasing, with a 20% increase in admissions this year.

“Barely two weeks into spring, we’ve already admitted over 150 ducklings as well as a few other chicks including an orphaned pūkeko and a tiny ōi (grey-faced petrel),” says General Manager, Dr Lynn Miller.

“The bulk of our financial support comes through the front door – donations from very kind and generous people in the community who have rescued birds, supplemented by community grants,” says Fundraising and Development Coordinator, Bianka Atlas.

“We’re in the wake of a particularly challenging couple of years and are feeling the pinch."

The charity has launched a two-week crowdfunding campaign (click the link below), and hope to raise $15,000 to help cover food, essential medication and housing.
