Councillor Cathy Casey says the vote adopted a remit presented by Auckland Council by a 64 per cent vote. Maritime NZ Northern Regional Compliance Manager, Neil Rowarth, said Mr Hutchings had put the lives of others in danger by acting recklessly.
The collision caused all three people on board Mr Hutchings’ boat, Maraetai Star, to fall to the deck. Mr Hutchings was knocked unconscious and received a broken nose. One crew member was also rendered unconscious and received a cut to his head while the other crew member suffered a bruised hip.

Much is currently being said about organisations needing to collaborate, and evidence certainly demonstrates together we can achieve more. In practice, however, this is not straightforward and requires careful consideration. Creating and maintaining lasting collaborative partnerships requires attention to process, resources, relationships, and outcomes. This workshop will provide you with a fresh perspective on collaboration. You will explore the collaboration landscape and identify where your organisations and your current and potential partners are placed on the continuum of collaborations. We will use a framework for collaborating effectively to ensure you maximise your efforts, to achieve more with your partners. Finally, you will apply tools to support you in your collaboration journey.

Coastguard services at Maraetai, search and rescue at Waiuku, and lifesaving at Kariaotahi have all won funding from Franklin Local Board’s Coastal Rescue Services Fund.
