Kowhai Intermediate School Enrolments

Kowhai Intermediate School

IN ZONE
You have automatic right of enrolment at Kōwhai if you live in our zone. Please visit our website: www.Kowhai.nz to see a list of the streets in the Kōwhai zone.

Entry to our Rumaki unit, Samoan bilingual class and French bilingual class is by application.
Please telephone Sweet Bromwich on 846-7534 or email enrol@kowhai.school.nz should you require more information.

OUT OF ZONE (FOR 2022 ACADEMIC YEAR)
Each year the school will analyse the projected in-zone enrolment figures and decide how many places we can offer to students who live outside our zone. If we receive more applications than we have places, we will conduct a ballot to select these students.

All out of zone applications must be received before the deadline, Wednesday 1 September. There are Ministry of Education rules and guidelines about how this process is run - you can read more about them at the Ministry’s website https://parents.education.govt.nz/primary-school/schooling-in-nz/enrolment-schemes-zoning. Our Māori, Samoan and French language classes qualify as 'special programmes' under these guidelines.

If your child is accepted via the ballot please let us know as soon as possible if you will take up the offer. We start planning for staffing and resources well before 2022 so we require firm numbers on our 2022 roll.

Kōwhai Open Mornings

WEDNESDAY 4TH AUGUST & THURSDAY 5TH AUGUST 2021
We have two days where we invite our local contributing schools to come to Kōwhai so that their students can see what they can expect to experience if they enrol at Kōwhai. Small groups visit each area of the school where there will be a short presentation around one aspect of our programme or school life.

Parents are welcome to attend with their child. Our Kōwhai Parent Information Evening will take place on Thursday 12 August - 7 pm to 8 pm. Parents are invited to attend this event where our leadership team will present information about all aspects of our school.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Please contact enrol@kowhai.school.nz if you need more information.
