East Auckland neighbours slam plans for childcare centre
Residents of a narrow cul-de-sac in east Auckland are bracing themselves for a daily influx of up to 70 cars. The group of neighbours are fighting a proposal to build a new childcare centre at the end of their brick-paved, quiet road in East Tamaki.
The Piccolo Park childcare centre could house up to 60 children, eight teachers and two staff members. Access was originally proposed to be from the busy Smales Rd, but Auckland Transport switched the entrance to Campile Cl. Brian Smith, who lived close to the proposed centre, said parking was reserved to one side of the street to allow for emergency vehicle access.
