The students from Lincoln Heights School in Keegan Drive are pedalling non-stop today to raise funds for a new playground.
Police advised the school to go into lockdown around midday on Monday after a firearm incident in the street.
This marked the second time this year the school had been placed into lockdown.
It was locked down in July after the shooting of Constable Matthew Hunt, which happened only a few hundred metres away.
School teachers and parents kicked off the first leg of the bike-a-thon yesterday afternoon and braved stormy weather to ride all night.
"After all the bad press about the neighbourhood recently, it would be great to show that despite a few bad eggs Massey is a great place to live," said event and marketing co-ordinator Rebecca Hochuli.
"We have had two covid lockdowns and 2 police lockdowns yet we are still rallying together to fundraise for your children to have a new playground."
Included in the fundraiser were food stalls, players from the Samoan rugby team, a Halloween disco and book fair.
The school's fundraising target is $15000 and $9000 had already been raised this morning, said deputy principal Toby Kite.
"I am immensely proud of our staff who biked through the night and were still smiling and laughing in the morning, and thankful to our parents who have supported this fundraising effort in so many ways," he said.

2. Use an ADAPTIL or FELIWAY Diffusers as close to the den or hiding place as possible, or where your pet spends most of its time.
3. Keep dogs and cats inside during fireworks and check that their microchip is up to date.
4. Walk your dog early in the evening or morning before fireworks start.
5. Ensure windows, doors and cat flaps remain closed during firework season to both prevent pets escaping and reduce the noise.
6. Ensure you cats have access to enough litter trays during firework season especially if you're keeping them inside.
7. Provide distractions, in the form of new toys and chews. Draw curtains and put the TV on to mask any noise.
8. DO NOT punish your pet! This will only make your pet more distressed.
9. Try not to leave your pets alone when fireworks are going off.
10. Continue to use ADAPTIL or FELIWAY after the party or fireworks season ends.

SPCA NZ says it is saddened and disappointed to hear Anthony Van Dyck had to be euthanised yesterday after suffering a fractured fetlock during the running of the cup at Flemington.
The horse received immediate veterinary care but was unable to be saved due to the nature of its injury.
The animal was loaded into an ambulance at the track but was put down soon after.
The SPCA said this tragic accident highlights the risks faced by horses participating in these races.
Anthony Van Dyck reportedly became the seventh horse to die on or as a result of Melbourne Cup day since 2013.
