CAREGIVER POSITION, RETIRED NURSE, STUDENT NURSE
Hi Neighbours. We need a special someone to help us with some Caregiving for my 88yo mother. We are based on the Shore. Ideally a retired nurse, or a student nurse looking for a part time job as my mother had a stroke & needs assistance. We have a carer who showers her each day so no need to do that. The role would be 1-2 days a week initially helping her get ready in the morning, making her breakfast, lunch & possibly dinner ๐ Light cleaning duties also, making her bed, cleaning her bathroom, keeping her lounge & bedroom tidy. Mum is a lovely lady, a soft spoken person, good SOH, has limited English but she is suited with somebody with a quiet, caring nature would be ideal. DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.
Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, weโre a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.
For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.
Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature โ and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?
