Circus superstars Circolombia head to Auckland Arts Festival this month with their renegade brand of circus and fiesta fun.

This super-charged company of Colombian artists is changing the face of circus worldwide garnering five-star reviews and bringing audiences to their feet to cheer. With a mix of Latin fire, heart-stopping energy and high-risk adrenaline-fuelled acrobatics, their new show Acéléré is no ordinary circus – it’s simply extraordinary.

Delivered with the rawness and attitude of South American street life, Acéléré turns the spotlight on 14 incredible performers and their endless feats of strength, balance, tumbling and insane pinpoint accuracy, and accompanied by a vibrant mixtape of Latin hip-hop and electro cumbia performed live.

Rebellious, dynamic and wildly entertaining, Acéléré is “the circus performance that shows others how it’s done. Go.” (The Scotsman).

Four shows only at Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Aotea Centre from March 26-29. Find out more and book tickets

An Albany woman who self-quarantined for two weeks after returning from holiday in China says retaining a positive mindset was "critical" to staying sane.
Tonia Xu travelled to her family's hometown of Zhengzhou, 500kms north of the coronavirus epicentre at Wuhan, so her 14-month-old daughter Mia could meet family for the first time.
As more information came to light about the deadliness of the Covid-19 virus, Xu realised she would need to isolate herself upon arriving back in New Zealand on January 29.
Xu said planning for her family's daily food consumption was the main concern, while keeping a "very active" Mia busy.
"Your mindset is quite critical. you have to be positive as much as you can."
After two weeks of no symptoms, Xu returned to work last week.
What would your major concerns be if you couldn't leave your home for two weeks?

Dear Neighbours,
We are a group of year 13 Business studies students from Takapuna Grammar School. As a group, we are trying to form and develop our own innovative company. We are currently under the Yes Program which is an NZ programme that has been set up to encourage innovation and provides the foundation business skills in which will be required by the future business leaders. As a part of our business, our products in which we will be selling are ultimately being made by recycled materials. Therefore hence this current message we were wondering if you had any sustainable goods that we can upcycle, specifically we are looking to upcycle old wine barrels that you no longer have use for and turn them into profitable goods. We would highly appreciate it if you got back in touch with us in regards to potentially having any materials and we would be more than happy to arrange a time to come and pick them up.

Bald eagles, a Weddell seal, a gentoo penguin, a three-toed sloth, a grey whale and a curious racoon are just some of the many animals featured in The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, opening on Friday at Auckland Museum.

This week, visitors to the Museum will get their first opportunity to immerse themselves in some of the most vibrant, fascinating images collected this year of the vast and varied nature of life on Earth. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition is the world’s most prestigious international nature photography exhibition, direct from London's Natural History Museum.
The longest-running nature photography exhibition in the world, it is known for inspiring curiosity and wonder, while also reminding us of the fragility of our planet and our responsibility to protect it.

Among those featured is the work of 14-year-old Aucklander, Cruz Erdmann, who won the title of Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year for his snap of a bigfin squid illuminating the inky blackness of the ocean.

Don't miss your chance to see up close the images that have got the whole world talking. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition is free with Museum entry.
