A very successful Pump Track Information Day was held on Sunday 20th July at Woodall Park.

Despite the unsettled weather we had at least 100 people who stopped by to talk about the project and all were very positive and supportive. Devonport Rotary would like to thank all of those people and the 30 or so who left their contact details and expressed interest in attending site working bees or donating cash and materials. Thanks to Tim White and some of the other local BMX guru's who dropped by to answer questions and explain aspects of the project.

It was great to see so many family groups using the existing informal track amongst the trees that demonstrated the level of demand for the proposed track.

Rotary plans to set up a GiveaLittle page to assist with fundraising. Watch this space and The Flagstaff for further information regarding when work will start on site. We are looking to begin at the end of September when the weather is suitable and the resource consent has been granted.

This month we’re celebrating the diverse array of people who call New Zealand home. Regardless of our different faiths, abilities, cultures, ages, orientations and genders - we want to make sure that our communities are safe and welcoming for all.

There are many ways to take part! From hosting a multicultural potluck or film screening to providing prevention information / resources in other languages, there are thousands of ways big and small to make our households, neighbourhoods, schools and businesses even more inclusive. It could even be as simple as learning from a neighbour how to say ‘hello’ in their first language or ensuring local footpaths are clear and accessible.

Want to share your thoughts? Let us know how you’re creating inclusive communities this month by tagging us in your social media posts or emailing us your photos, videos, or experiences to:
