Warning dog walkers Moata Rd/Tawa Rd

Chris from Greenlane

Hi everyone,
We had a scary incident this morning while walking our small dog on Tawa Rd. Three big black dogs came racing up Moata Rd rushing us wanting to attack our dog. My husband was able to lift our dog up onto a fence and cover her while I faced off two of the dogs who were barking aggressively, baring their teeth. My natural reaction was to stand up to them with my arms wide while yelling. The third dog remained barking on the corner. For some reason they ended up running off back down Moata Rd.. We called the council who were going to send someone to investigate. This happened around 7am this morning. Please be aware when walking your dogs.

UPDATE….
Dog control located two of the dogs after multiple calls from the public. They are dealing with the owner. I was told that the dogs do not live on or near Moata Rd.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Night-time chipsealing works on SH2

NZ Transport Agency (NZTA)

From 9 to 17 February, stop/go traffic management will be in place on SH2 between McPherson Road and Dimmock Road on multiple nights between 9pm and 5am (Sundays to Thursdays).

During the day, all lanes will be open, but speed restrictions will apply to allow the chipseal to set and to protect vehicles travelling over the newly laid surface.

There may be delays to your journey when travelling through the area. This is weather dependent so check NZTA Journey Planner before you travel.
