EXTREME ROLLING SOUND SYSTEM
Hi neighbours,
I live up on Glenfield hill looking down on Birkdale and Beach haven area.
Now recently from time to time I have heard unbelievably load busts of music coming up from Birkdale and Beach haven
At the time I was thinking maybe it’s a sound crew testing their gear for the next AC/DC or Metallica gig
The busts of music would only ever last a few seconds at a time
“So anyway’s” last evening I was riding back from Takapuna on my motorbike when I was hit by a sonic boom of sound waves which nearly threw me off the bike
This noise came from a car in the lane beside me, I think this car started out as maybe a 2006 Mazda 3 sport hatch before it was highly modified
It looks like the rear seat and luggage area in the car has been removed to make way for a huge speaker system
I’m thinking the sound system can only be used for a few seconds at a time because of the huge drain on the cars battery
The car has been repainted in a nondescript colour similar to car in photo
Normally I’d note down the plate number of a car in question “but this time I was in shock”
I would love to know more about this car and driver if you see (and hear) it around
Some Choice News!
DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.
Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.
For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.
Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?
We hope this brings a smile!
