Child Care Spaces Available

Andrea from Sunnynook

Hi everyone. I'm a homebased childcare educator. I have one full-time and a part-time space available for an under 6 year old not enrolled at school. I have been a care educator for 10 years and live in Sunnynook and regularly attend playgroups, go to mainly music, the library, parks, playgrounds, beaches but at the moment with covid19 we are staying home. I do have a lot of indoor and outdoor toys available and do fun activites with teh kids everyday so doesn't matter that we are not heading out much at the moment. I love to do arts and crafts and science experiments with the kids. The smaller child-educator ratio allows better quality care and less bugs spreading. You can claim subsidies from WINZ and for the ECE 20h hours for 3 & 4 year olds. Hourly rate is $7. if you are interested send me a message. Grab the space before it is gone!

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
