Safe Weed Killer

Karen from Totara Vale

1 gallon of vinegar (I use white), 1 cup salt, 1 tbspn dish liquid.

It works! And it's not glyphosate. Remember that the salt will persist longer than the vinegar in your soils so target carefully. No threat to your pets or your kids. :)

Kawakawa trees - male or female?

Jenny from

Last week, visiting an area we had freed from honeysuckle and other weeds in 2019, we were delighted to see the first flowering of a male kawakawa. (Photo below left)

We were surprised to see it mature so soon after we had planted it in 2020 as a 10 cm high seedling.
