Volunteer Needed to help with Club Website
Soroptimist International North Shore raise funds each year and donate those funds to local, national and international projects aimed at educating, enabling and empowering women and girls.
We are looking for a enthusiastic woman or girl wishing to volunteer their skills and knowledge to help with our club website. This would be approximately 2-4 hours a week.
Soroptimists are committed to a world where women and girls together achieve their individual and collective potential, realise aspirations and have an equal voice in creating strong, peaceful communities worldwide.
We strive for: human rights for all, global peace and international good will, advancing women’s potential, integrity and democratic decision making. We do this through volunteering our skills and knowledge. We are a diverse group of Women from different ethnicities and vocational backgrounds and enjoy life-long friendships.
Some of the projects we have worked on in the past include ECPACT Child ALERT (the Eradication of Child Prostitution, and Child Trafficking), and encouraging a low decile school children to attend school on the North Shore. We are also proud to support women in need with second hand clothing and toiletries.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.8% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
25.8% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
14.4% ... It is complicated
Poll: Should complete designs be shared with the public, or should the community help shape the designs from the start?
The Post recently shared an opinion piece on the Harbour Crossing and why a more democratic approach might be needed 🚗🚲👟
While most decisions sit within the political arena, many organisations—like NZTA—manage long-term projects that go beyond party lines. Politics can sometimes disrupt progress, and the next Harbour Crossing is a big decision that will affect all Aucklanders.
We’d love your thoughts: Should near-complete, shovel-ready designs be shared with the public, or should the community have a hand in shaping the designs from the start?
-
83.3% Community feedback and transparency is needed.
-
16.7% No. This would be impossible in practice.
