Pop-up cycleway trialled Glen Eden

Caryn Wilkinson Reporter from Community News

A pop-up cycleway is planned for Captain Scott Rd in Glen Eden to link Savoy Rd with the train station.

The path will trial connecting the existing cycleway in Savoy Rd to the town centre and comes after two community co-design workshops this month.

The pop-up cycleway is part of Waka Kotahi’s $210,000 Innovating Streets for People pilot programme.

Waitakere Ranges Local Board Member Mark Allen said there will be room for evaluation and feedback at the end of the trial.

“.... providing a safe way for the community to use other methods of transport to connect to the town centre will only be beneficial in the long run, and that’s why this project is so exciting," Allen said.

Poll: If we want to reduce speeding, what do you think actually changes driver behaviour? 🛻🚨🚓

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In the Post's article on speeding penalties, the question is asked whether speeding fines are truly about road safety, or are they just a way to boost revenue for the Crown?

What do you think? Should speeding motorists receive speeding fines or demerit points?
