Eastern music favourites on East FM, Saturday from 3pm

Phil from Farm Cove

Pop-rock livewires The Rvmes and down-home favourites The Nukes are the Kiwi feature musicians on tomorrow’s She’ll Be Right on Saturdays Show with PJ Taylor, 3-7pm (NZ time, April 15) on East FM.
It’s always exciting times for The Rvmes ( www.thervmes.co.nz... ), one of the hardest-working bands during the summer, and another new single is out this Thursday, April 20. And! If we’re really fortunate, Edwin Judd, frontman for The Rvmes, may let us play a sneak preview of Say Something after we talk with him at 4pm.
Also stoked to feature The Nukes ( www.thenukes.co.nz... ) again after a good-few years and are chatting live to Ben Collier at 5pm about the band’s summer and fantastic album released not so long ago, Homespun.
They’re fresh off performances at the Canterbury Folk Festival last weekend. And, as Megan Peacock-Coyle of the Oamaru Opera House says: “The Nukes blew the audiences’ socks off with the combination of humour, fantastic songwriting, great musicianship and singing.”
In and around spotlight times for The Rvmes and The Nukes, we’ll zip around a few more musical neighbourhoods.
East FM is East Auckland’s fair-dinkum community-powered public service radio station, on 88.1FM and 107.1FM on local frequencies, nationally and globally at www.eastfm.nz... and on app iHeart Radio.
She’ll Be Right - it’s all about the vibe; it’s all about the groove. – PJ

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
