Have you spotted Auckland's newest insect in your backyard?

The Team from Auckland Museum

Our Curator of Entomology* John Early has discovered a species of bug that has recently established itself in Auckland. The green lacewing is "a beautiful little insect, lovely to behold. It is a pale leaf green with a golden strip down its back and delicate wings that sparkle as it flies in the sunlight," says Early. But is this new resident a friend or a foe to the flora and fauna in our backyards? Read on to find out...

*Entomology is the study of insects and their relationship to humans, the environment, and other organisms.
