Ex-pat Liverpudlian musician on East FM
Being a Liverpudlian, Davey Joe South comes from one of the world’s great music capitals and we’re looking forward to hearing his story on The She’ll Be Right on Saturdays Show with PJ Taylor, tomorrow June 5, 3-7pm (NZ time) on East FM.
David South is one of the Fab Four acts along with Burn The Bridges, Marianne Leigh and Zoe Scott on the excellent line-up of performers for Live Out East – Concert 2 – a fundraising event in aid of Auckland City Mission, at Uxbridge Theatre at Uxbridge Arts and Culture, Howick, on Friday, June 18.
We’ll be talking with Davey Joe South from 4pm on She’ll Be Right. Before coming to NZ, he was an active member of the Liverpool scene – his band Cardello sharing the Bandwagon stage with the likes of The Coral, The Zutons, The Libertines, and The Stands.
He co-wrote modern musical Home with Zutons’ original guitarist, Boyan Chowdhury. He continues to write prolifically and looks toward his first Kiwi EP in late 2021.
Auckland four-piece (with keys) Burn the Bridges play earthly, rhythmically-driven songs in the country-rock-blues-roots domain, and have a superb new EP out at www.burnthebridges.co.nz.... Home has four tracks free to play. It’s worth the journey.
Marianne Leigh, at 18, has already turned ears, winning Smokefree Rockquest and Play It Strange music competition prizes for songwriting and performance. She’s been mentored by Bic Runga, and more recently Jamie McDell, for show Uke Can Do It, on TVNZ on Demand.
