Hi everyone,

Previously I made a post about the intersection of Valderama Dr and Ormiston road (see below).

If you use this intersection, please keep reading, if you don’t, please keep reading anyway.

I have contacted Auckland Transport and they basically said although there has been accidents, no one has been seriously hurt or died. So no urgent plans to do anything about it.

But with the new half of Valderama Dr opened, the intersection looks a little something like the google maps screenshot with arrows (see attached).

So I’m urging you, if you are as concerned as I am about the potential serious accident, injuries, deaths, that may happen at this intersection. Please go onto the Auckland Transport website, hit the contact button on top right and fill in a feedback form. Maybe if they receive more than 2, they might take this matter seriously.

Thanks for your time. (If you aren’t concerned, fill in a feedback form anyway, we should unite together)

Previous post:

Hi all,

I have becoming increasingly concerned over the intersection of Valderama Drive and Ormiston Rd.

Here is a screenshot of the enquiry I sent to the council which got forwarded to Auckland Transport on the 4th March 2019. And then the next screenshot is their response which I chased up on 9th August 2019.

In my opinion, I feel their response is pretty poor, do we wait until someone is dead or seriously hurt before we do something about it? Since submitting the enquiry, I’ve seen another two accidents. Although no one was hurt, but another two nevertheless.

What are your thoughts and advice?

Thanks for your time.

I'm standing to be your councillor in the upcoming election because I love Auckland. Our city is a great place to live but we need more passion, ambition and leadership to make it everything it could be.

For over a decade I’ve worked as a problem solver for large organisations, helping them improve outcomes for customers, staff and shareholders. I want to use my skills, experience and love for our city to improve Auckland for everyone. I will fight for proper investment in East Auckland, improve transport, preserve our environment and ensure our communities have a strong voice.

You can contact me anytime on Neighbourly, Facebook, mobile (022 543 7601) or via my website.

With your support, I will provide the vision and leadership to tackle the tough issues, put in the hard work and ensure the people of East Auckland are heard at the council table.

These kids, aged between 13 and 15, are talented beyond belief and it was amazing to see them in action. Not only are they very good at playing various instruments, there were a few amazing vocal performances too.

Both our Residents and our Manager, Bruce Cullington was very impressed. Well done to Musical Director Joseph Allan and thank you for bringing the kids to Acacia Cove.

We would love to see them again.

From 1st October 2019, the Manukau East Patient Transport Service (provided by MECOSS and Howick and Pakuranga Shuttles), will no longer provide transport services for patients.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
You can use the following options to organise transport to your medical appointments at Botany Super Clinic, Manukau Super Clinic and Middlemore Hospital:
1). St John Health Shuttle service
The St John Health Shuttle is expected to commence from early 2020 to provide a similar service in this area. The service will be free (koha/donations are welcome) and staffed with reliable, fully-trained drivers that will pick patients up, take them to their appointment, and drop them home safely again. For more information about the St John Health Shuttle, call toll free on 0800 9252 672 (0800 WAKA ORA).
2). Public Transport
Public transport options have improved in East Auckland as part of Auckland Transport's public transport network upgrade. To find out the best travel routes, please visit the Auckland Transport website at.govt.nz... or call toll free on 0800 103 080.
3. Private Providers
There are a number of private transport providers operating in East Auckland, such as Driving Miss Daisy (0800 948 432) and Freedom Drivers (0800 956 956). These services are ACC registered vendors and price is quoted on the requirements of each individual journey.
Dependent on your individual circumstances, you may be eligible for additional support:
a). Total Mobility Scheme
The Total Mobility scheme operated by Auckland Transport, helps people with serious mobility constraints access subsidised door-to-door transport service. The scheme offers eligible registered individuals a 50% discount (up to a maximum of $40), on fares charged by contracted taxi providers in the Auckland region. For more information, please call Auckland Transport on 09 366 6400 or visit at.govt.nz...…/accessible-trav…/total-mobility-scheme/.
b). Work and Income
Work and Income may be able to help with health-related travel and accommodation costs up to $300 a year if you meet certain eligibility criteria including income and asset limits.
Please call Work and Income toll free on 0800 559 009 to make an appointment or visit www.workandincome.govt.nz....
For more information
Counties Manukau Health is committed to the best quality of care for patients and their whanau in the East Auckland area. We will work with your doctor and the practice team to ensure that your health needs and services are not adversely affected by this change and that you continue to receive the high level of care you currently receive at your clinic.
If this change might stop you getting the care you need or if you are concerned about this change, please call the Community Central Team on 0800 262 368 or email communitycentral@middlemore.co.nz
