Due to Covid-19, The Great Auckland Duck Race this year is going VIRTUAL. Instead of cheering on your duck by the white-water rapids at Vector Wero Whitewater Park, do it from the comfort of your couch! On October 18th go to ‘The Great Auckland Duck Race’ Facebook page.

Can I attend the event on the day?
Unfortunately not. Due to the uncertainty of which alert level Auckland will be in, the physical event is sadly not taking place but you can view the races virtually as detailed above.

Can I still buy a duck?
Yes! Business ducks and Everybody tickets through our website. Business ducks will need to be returned by October 7th. Everybody duck tickets will be available to buy until October 13th

● Businesses Race: 1st, 2nd & 3rd
● Everybody’s Race: 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th
● Best-Dressed School Duck

Meet Raukura Edwards who shares “I loved the experience of studying, I felt at home at Awanuiārangi.

The lecturers are amazing. Being able to learn online and through block learning was so much more efficient for me as a working Māmā. I was able to work, look after my tamariki and gain a degree at the same time. We supported each other to get over the line. I’m studying for a Master’s now and I’m learning so much more. I love it!”

You too can help facilitate the learning journey of future leaders. Study with us in 2021!

Hi: I have cleared out my garage and would like to give to someone who has garage sales, a temporary, make-shift clothes hanger. My father fashioned two wooden posts and a metal rod that slips between them. It can lie flat in your garage so takes up very little room.
I also have two festive banners: one purple and one bright yellow on bamboo rods. They curve at the end and come down to dream catchers (one has lost its threads but is still OK). These are great to attract attention to your event. They just need propping up on something.
There may also be other things like boards that hook jewellery onto them, depending on what you want to take. First-come, first-served basis. Tel. 021 907 986 Carole

Hi neighbours. Transport authorities have pulled double-decker buses from the Auckland Harbour Bridge and are warning it could close completely during a massive storm forecast for much of the country. this weekend.

MetService previously said travel disruptions are likely this weekend, as severe gales, heavy rain and big waves batter the country, followed by cold Antarctic air bringing snow to low levels in the deep south.

Meteorologists believe the storm could be “one of the most widespread severe weather events this year”.

Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) general manager of transport services Brett Gliddon advised motorcyclists and those driving high-sided vehicles to avoid the bridge.
