Community case of Covid-19 in Devonport

Caroline Williams Reporter from North Shore Times

Kia ora neighbours. A Devonport man has tested positive for the Delta variant of Covid-19.

One of his colleagues and six others - including a nurse at Auckland City Hospital - have since tested positive for the virus. The entire country is currently in alert level four.

At this stage, the Ministry of Health has only shared information for one Auckland location of interest: The Devonport Pharmacy, which the man visited on Monday, August 16 from 2.15pm-2.30pm.

Despite this, the pharmacy was the only shop on Devonport’s main road to be open on Wednesday. The township was unusually quiet, with only the odd jogger, dog-walker or cyclist visible.

Devonport-Takapuna Local Board member Toni van Tonder, who lives in Narrowneck, said that having a Covid case locally was slightly alarming. However, she had faith residents were doing the right thing.

“Devonport is a unique community, people are very, very caring of one another.”

Poll: Do you think Auckland Council is doing enough to help households safely dispose of hard-to-recycle waste?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

How do we Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle the hard stuff?
We’re talking tyres, paint, and agricultural chemicals — the items that aren’t always easy to dispose of.

Recently featured in The Post, this innovative business is showing how waste can be transformed into opportunity, turning what we throw away into products.

But this raises a bigger question: how do we get our waste to the right people — the ones doing the right things with it?
♻️ Do you think Auckland Council is doing enough to help households safely dispose of hard-to-recycle waste and get it back into the supply chain?

We’d love to hear your thoughts.
