Property Owners , Landlords and Real Estate Agents your attention please!

Dave from Waiheke Island

Hi

I'm Dave and I am really hoping someone can help. I have a rental property in Ellerslie , nothing flash just 2 bdrm unit in block of 20 just by village shops. I have had the same tenant in the unit for coming on 10 years now . So Muriel moved into the unit while being 3 months pregnant. her son Roman arrived not long after . Muriel is a solo mum and is devoted to Roman. Muriel works just up the road as a teachers assistant and generally looks after any kids that have learning difficulties or have issues at home. she works hard but teachers pay doesn't make it easy for her. I have tried to help by only increasing rent once in the time she has been my tenant. But I was advised a year ago that the apartment block is leaky and work is starting soon. She will need to vacate from approx January 2021 for upto 6 months while the property is worked on. She really wants to come back once everything is complete which I am also very keen to happen but all the rentals i've seen are for 1 year fixed terms. Does anyone know of somewhere she can rent for around the 6 month term close to Ellerslie area?
Any help or advice would be fantastic. Just PM me here on neighbourly.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Poll: As a customer, what do you think about automation?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.

Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.

We want to know: What do you think about automation?
Are you for, or against?
