Pharmac pulls epilepsy drug funding (Lamictal and Arrow brands of lamotrigine)
I am really concerned as I have been seizure free for the last 22 years and have been told NOT to change my medication - Lamictal - at any stage by my neurologist.
What happens from here on?
If I have a seizure I will lose the following:
1. Driving license for 1 year suspended
2. Short term memory loss
3. Brain - with every seizure the brain get damaged
4. Possibly working time / wages loss as sick leave is only 5 working days
5. Fear / embarrassment when you go out in the community
6. Additional costs as medical visits will be increasing.
7. AND WORST - possible injury / death to others if seizure happens while driving.
As I have to rely on my car to get to and from work I have no option but to drive. Will the government pay for transport? I have checked the buses from home to work and it will take me 2 hours travel each way to get to and from work. It is only 16km's.
If anyone else is affected how do we fight this?
Any politicians / Councillors that can help with this?

Buses can be a relaxing way to get home if you have a seat and enough space. However, it can be off-putting when someone is taking a phone call next to you.
