Safe jumpstart

Pablo Delgado from Beach Haven and Birkdale Community Watch

We kiwis love to lend a helping hand, to be that one good "bugger"; but it's better to be cautious.

To check rego plates using carjam.co.nz and NZ Police websites is a part of our protocol for any car found incorrectly parked, on a weird spot, potentially abandoned, damaged or with people inside and lights off. It's not a "stolen vehicle" procedure but more a "vehicle worthing attention" thing, anyway we advise you to use the same protocol specially if you're going to help an unknown person, on a lonely street, late night and with no lights to see as it was the case last night.

We decided to use these photos, with consent of the person on them, to show another service we give during our patrols: we try to help members of our Community. We want to build stronger ties among our neighbours and encourage solidarity with our example.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
