Nadine from Castor Bay

Out-of-Zone Applications 2023

The School Board of Trustees invites out-of-zone applications from parents/caregivers who wish to enrol their children at Sunnynook Primary School for 2023.

Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available from the school office and on our website -
www.sunnynook.school.nz...

Applications for 10 out-of-zone places in Year 1 (those who will turn 5 before April 30th, 2023) are now being invited. There are also 7 out-of-zone places available in Year 2.

The deadline for receipt of applications for out-of-zone enrolments is 28 September 2022.

If a ballot for out-of-zone places is required, it will be held on Wednesday 19 October 2022.

Parents/caregivers will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.

If you live in the home zone and have not yet signalled your intention to enrol your child later this year, please contact the school immediately to assist us to plan appropriately.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
