Earlier this month, one of the owners of the store was working… View moreThanks to the brave and quick actions of these members of the public (pictured centre and centre right) – an offender who was trying to make a getaway after stealing money from a Henderson dairy was stopped and swiftly arrested. 👏
Earlier this month, one of the owners of the store was working behind the counter when a man entered the store and demanded money.
He walked behind the counter to the cash register and took a large sum of money, but the owner very quickly managed to activate the anti-theft smoke canon and the offender fled the shop.
Seeing what happened, the members of the public chased the offender and caught him, holding him until Police arrived soon afterwards.
He was then arrested and taken into custody.
A 40-year-old man has been charged with theft and was due to appear in the Waitakere District Court last week.
The money taken was returned to the dairy owners (pictured on the left), who were very grateful to those who stepped in to help.
A great result and example of people going above and beyond to look out for people in their local community.

Hi neighbours, a wee kitten stuck down a drain was rescued thanks to efforts by the SPCA and firefighters last week. It took more than three hours to retrieve the 7-week-old kitten from the drain, which proved tricky to access due to it sloping beneath the curb. It took more than three hours to retrieve the 7-week-old kitten from the drain, which proved tricky to access due to it sloping beneath the curb. Firefighters couldn't get into the drain, so had to create a platform for the kitten, which was eventually coaxed out with some food. The male kitten is now being cared for by the SPCA where he will be desexed and put up for adoption.

HAVAGO CIRCUS IS BACK!
It’s not an actual circus, but a load of different skill toys to get you active and having fun! There’s something for everyone, all ages (toddlers, kids, teens and adults) and all skill levels. Can you juggle? Stilt walk? Hula-hoop? Ride a unicycle? Ride a clown bike? Throw a ball? Throw a diabolo?? I will be on Browns Bay’s grassy beach front (close to the playground) between 10:30am and 2pm to help you learn! Please bring some coins to put into the collection box to help towards the equipment (I do this for free, but appreciate a donation towards the toys). There’s some cool stuff which you might not have seen before, and some old retro toys you haven’t seen in a looong time!
