Poll: Do you support Auckland Council's bid to ban fireworks?

Mandy Te Reporter from Eastern Courier

Hi neighbours, banning the sale and private use of fireworks has been voted on at the Local Government New Zealand annual general meeting. Councillor Cathy Casey says the vote adopted a remit presented by Auckland Council by a 64 per cent vote. Casey said fireworks caused harm and distress to people and animals, and she hoped central government would get involved. What do you think?

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
