Help prevent the spread of Oriental fruit fly
A single Oriental fruit fly has been found in a surveillance trap in the Auckland suburb of Birkdale.
Birkdale and nearby areas in Auckland are now under a Controlled Area Notice. This means restrictions on the movement of whole fruit, some vegetables, compost, and green waste to help prevent the spread of this insect, which could have serious consequences for New Zealand’s fruit growers and home gardeners.
