Auckland Council's Panuku Development says any of its publicly-owned properties with "no apparent service need" will be sold to fund other projects.

The former Howick Borough Council headquarters and Howick Police Station at 34 Moore Street, Howick, is one property that may be added to Panuku's list.

But community leaders, including Howick Local Board members, insist the property, paid for by Howick ratepayers, should not be sold and instead be kept for the use of the community.
