Great news today on Northcote Wharf. Auckland Transport have increased the budget to fully repair the wharf, with new piles, decking, lighting and weather-proofing, as well as a rebuild of the abutment and improved parking and cycling facilities. Auckland Transport have increased the budget to fully repair the wharf, with new piles, decking, lighting and weather-proofing, as well as a rebuild of the abutment and improved parking and cycling facilities. AT are aiming to have the work completed by mid-2020.
However it won't be an "all-weather" solution, meaning that there will still likley be service cancellations in bad weather, so the Kaipatiki Local Board will continue to advocate for that.
Thankyou to the community for their patience, and thanks to Councillors Richard Hills and Chris Darby, Kaipātiki Local Board members and Dan Bidois MP for their advocacy. And thankyou to those in Auckland Transport who have also been fighting to retain the wharf, and to those staff who briefed the Local Board today.

“We are pleased that the renewal project will soon be underway, and that the improved facility will be returned to the community next year” says Kaipātiki Local Board Chair John Gillon.
“The local board have always been keen to see the wharf as an all-weather facility, and we will continue to advocate for this in the future as patronage increases”.
