Power costs
Hi There ,I want to thank everyone who gave us advice last winter after an $800 power bill. I would like you to know we found [hopefully] our problem to be electric hot water .I would like to let fellow Central residents know that the recommendation for gas hot water and a woodburner installation to MCLELLANDS GAS AND PLUMBING was incredibly disappointing .The customer service was appalling ,we did manage to get a tradesman from Mclellands once to look at the job, then we called instore to select a fire and request a quote and never heard from them again .We waited 3 months then began the search again ,no interest at all until on a recommendation from Neighbourly we called ADAMS HEATING AND PLUMBING ,they were professional ,quick ,and reasonably priced ,customer service faultless ,I will update you on our first power account in June. The first job which included the woodburner would have been app $10,000 , if Mclellands plumbing can afford to throw that sort of customer away then there will be karma ,there always is in business.
Poll: Should we ditch daylight saving? 🕰️
First introduced in New Zealand in 1927 with the passing of the Summer Time Act, it's what we know as 'Daylight Saving' and this year it ends on the first Sunday in April.
While we do get to sleep in this time around, some people would like to scrap the clock tinkering for good.
And why? Some evidence suggests the time changes are bad for our health as they mess with sleep patterns leading to short-term fatigue and affecting mood. Meanwhile the hour change is frustrating for farmers and a nightmare for getting the littlies to sleep. But what's your take?
-
40.3% Yes - get rid of the clock changes
-
57.8% No, I enjoy it
-
1.9% Other - I'll share below
