Palmerston North Water Supply

Debra from Milson

If you have not seen this message. I would be careful around water for your animals, hot water for tea and coffee, children's drink bottles, and teeth cleaning till you can flush you pipes by running outside tap.

Palmerston North City Council

Give yourself a break from laundry duty tomorrow night! πŸ’§
πŸ‘‰ We'll be cleaning one of the main pipes that transports water from Turitea into the city tomorrow night (Tuesday 20 August).
πŸ‘‰ We've postponed this a couple of times due to river conditions not being right, but we're now good to go after the rain over the weekend.

We're encouraging everyone to have a night off washing your clothes after 9pm, while our team complete the cleaning. Need to do laundry? Don't stress, the water's expected to be back to normal by 9 am Wednesday (21 August). ☺️
πŸ‘‰ On Wednesday, morning you might notice some discoloured water when we reconnect the water supply. If this happens, run your taps for a few minutes or until the water runs clear.
πŸ‘‰ If your water doesn't run clear after a few minutes, please ring our Call Centre on 06 356 8199 and let them know so we can help.
πŸ‘‰For more info about the work being done, visit:
www.pncc.govt.nz......
🚰 If you live in Kelvin Grove, Ashhurst, Longburn or Bunnythorpe, this won't affect you, as your area has a separate water supply.
✨ No cleaning agent is used during the process – instead, a giant sponge (like in the picture below) is inserted into the pipe at the treatment plant and water pressure pushes it through the pipe until it gets to the river. We do this every year. ✨

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?

What's your favourite tomato recipe?

Mei Leng Wong Reporter from NZ Gardener & Get Growing

Kia ora neighbours. We know your tomato plants are still growing, but we're looking ahead to the harvest already! If you've got a family recipe for tomatoes, we'd love to see it and maybe publish it in our magazine to share with our readers. Send your recipe to mailbox@nzgardener.co.nz, and if we use it in the mag, you will receive a free copy of our February 2025 issue.
