Did you know WEL Networks has been bringing power to your community for nearly 100 years?

100% community-owned, WEL’s sole shareholder is the WEL Energy Trust.
We’re an innovative, infrastructure provider responsible for distributing power from the national grid, to over 160,000 people throughout Waikato.

Around 240 staff work hard to keep the lights on at your place, 24/7, but whatever we’re doing, safety is always our number priority. Our aim is to get everyone - your family, our teams - home safe, every day.

While electricity is our core business we also play an essential role in the region’s economic and social development.
We recently installed an electric vehicle fast charger at our office - it’s free to use - and we added an electric vehicle to our fleet. Now we’re in the process of installing four additional fast chargers around the region in Te Kauwhata, Raglan and Hamilton.

We’ve identified and invested in new technologies that benefit our people, modernise our network and future proof our region. We’re the majority shareholders of Ultrafast Fibre and 58,000 smart boxes have been installed across Waikato as part of our Smart Network project.
