We are an organisation that was set up in 2008 as a result of crime,assaults and robberies to Asians in New Lynn. People were getting attacked in Lynmall car park, luckily not serious, but still scary. Back in 2008 the New Lynn bus centre was not a good place as every Friday, 2 of the local education centres used to meet at 3 pm for a rumble. My partner Jun who is Chinese was assaulted at the Manawa Wetlands in Margan Ave during the at around 4pm. She was knocked to the ground, and had her bag taken with all her valuables in it. So I said enough is enough. And with Sgt. Grant Watson of New Lynn Police, with Michael Alofa from Safe Waitakere which was part of Council, and Councillor Peter Chan formed WASG.
