UWC makes education a force to unite peoples, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.

UWC Aotearoa New Zealand selects Year 12-13 students for life-changing scholarships at 18 pre-university (IB) international boarding schools around the world. We welcome applications from New Zealand citizens who are ordinarily resident in New Zealand, and who:

- will be aged 16-17 on 1 August in the year they start at UWC;
- have a strong academic record, are physically active and emotionally resilient, and are involved in their school and/or local community.
Selection for UWC is based on merit. Scholarships are needs assessed so that scholars contribute an amount appropriate to their family's financial situation (in some circumstances this can mean no contribution is required).

New Zealand's first UWC scholarships were awarded in the mid-1970s. Since then, over 150 scholarships have been awarded, changing lives and broadening horizons. New Zealand UWC graduates are making a difference internationally and locally. Prominent graduates include Annette Sykes (lawyer), David Cunliffe (consultant and former MP), Victoria Ransom (tech entrepreneur), Miriama McDowell (actress), and Rohan O'Neill-Stephens (Nelson City Councillor).
