The University of Waikato has been active in the Bay of Plenty since the 1990s when we first formed an alliance with Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology, (formerly Waiariki Bay of Plenty Polytechnic).
In 2001, the University's first cohort of Bay of Plenty students graduated in Tauranga. Tauranga is a great place to be a student. As well as the relaxed beach lifestyle, the adrenaline-packed activities, the cafes, bars and events, there is a diverse student community here in the Bay.
The University of Waikato now has a new tertiary campus in the heart of Tauranga city, giving students even greater study options in the region and combining beautiful beaches and a relaxed lifestyle with world-class university study. The campus was designed to feature purpose-built spaces for leading academics, researchers and teaching staff, postgraduate and undergraduate students, industry and community collaborations and commercialisation activities.
