Top of the South Neighbourhood Support is part of a nationwide community-led movement that brings people and neighbourhoods together to create safe, resilient and connected communities. Top of the South Neighbourhood Support has a network of more than 400 Neighbourhood Support groups and 6000 members across Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough. We work alongside New Zealand Police and other partners to equip neighbourhoods to improve safety, be prepared for emergencies and support one another so that our communities are a great place to live. Neighbourhood Support groups help members to share information and support each other in tangible ways, such as collecting mail when people are away on holiday. We assist groups to develop a contact list, so that they can stay in touch and provide tips on crime prevention, pass on crime alerts from the police, and provide other resources such as a monthly newsletter, household stickers and street signs. Being involved in Neighbourhood Support comes in many shapes and forms. Some groups hold regular social get-togethers such as BBQs and street picnics. Others have undertaken projects such as tree planting. Others are happy to catch up by email a couple of times a year. It's easy to join or set up a group. Just contact us and we'll put you in touch with a group in your area, or if there is no existing group, assist you to get a group going. It's free to join, so why not do it today?
