Working to improve outcomes in Tikipunga A three year community development project is now in action in Tikipunga and Glenbervie working to achieve the following outcomes: • To have built the capacity of the community to respond to need through the development of effective networks, structures and increasing resources available within the community. • Children and young people have increased participation and voice in the decisions that affect their lives. • Children and young people in Tikipunga have an increased sense of belonging, positive connections and relationships and are engaged in education, training or employment. • A community that is well nourished where the food and nutrition needs of children and families are met. The project began from discussions between Pehiaweri Marae and several of the schools in the Tikipunga and Glenbervie area, supported by Manaia Primary Health Organisation. A steering group was formed and funding was applied for, and received from the Department of Internal Affairs.
