We are looking for suitable and interested people aged 18 years of age and older who are interested in becoming a Kea or Cub Leader at our Tawa Scout Group.

Being a Leader has many benefits and provides many opportunities. Leaders come from all walks of life, from parents of Scouts, to childhood Scouts, to people with no Scouting experience at all! Get involved in your community and it looks great on your CV also.

A Leader needs to be a motivated individual with a commitment to supporting our varied, exciting and dynamic programs. Scouts NZ helps us deliver this by providing training and support in all aspects of Scouting, youth leadership, programming and safety.

Leader training is provided and normally, Leaders need to commit to Group meetings one night per week during school term, a programme meeting each term, and perhaps a few weekends a year for outdoor activities such as hiking and camping trips.

More information is available here members.scouts.org.nz...

If you are interested or have questions please contact our Group Leader, Michael Corcoran on 0272758091 - email tawa@group.scouts.nz

Over recent years the Tawa Scout Group has been served by some very passionate and dedicated Leader volunteers - across all Sections and age groups. However that team has shrunk over the last 12 months allowing you the opportunity to join our team.

We are looking for adults (18+ years) who can spare Tawa Scout Group a couple of hours a week and become a Leader in one of their Sections:
- Kea's are aged 6 & 7 years
- Cubs are aged from 8 to 10 years
- Scouts are aged from 10 to 14 years
- Venturers are aged from 14 to 17 years

We can offer you in return,
• Fun – working with a great bunch of boys and girls. They have a great sense of fun and energy which you just can’t help but get swept along with.
• Friendship – The people that I have meet while at Cubs and Scouts have been really great people, and long after the scouting day is done, the friendship has continued.
• Personal Development – The Scouting movement has a long history of providing opportunities for personal development.
• Community – We are very lucky to be part of such a wonderful community in Tawa, and volunteering your time to the youth of Tawa Group is an easy way to give back and play a larger role in the community that we all live in.

You may think that you don’t have the skills to share, but you would be surprised, we incorporate everyday things in our programmes, from cooking, craft, conservation and emergency preparedness. We also try;
weather permitting, to get out and about.

Joining us at one of the Sections of Tawa Scout Group is not just about providing an experience for the boys and girls, it is about providing an experience for our leaders as well. The commitment required by each individual leader is not huge, because we share that commitment as a team; it is about providing an experience for our leaders as well.

This is not just about parents – maybe you have a young adult (18+ years) in your family who has the potential to contribute to their community - community volunteering looks great on your CV!

If you are interested or have any questions please give Michael, our Group Leader, a ring on 027-275-8091

Are you ready for the 'Adventure'
